Luberon & Hilltop Villages

Lacoste
The narrow cobbled streets of this medieval village bring you to the castle of the infamous Marquis de Sade. The fashion designer Pierre Cardin bought it in 2001 and renovated it. Since then takes place every summer a music and theater festival.

Ménerbes
Built on a hill, this superb village shows a lot of historical episodes. Many artists, comedians and writers once owned houses in Menerbes, among them Nicolas de Staël, Pablo Picasso and Peter Mayle. From the top of the hill, one can embrace a wonderful landscape.

Gordes
In the heart of the Vaucluse mountains, Gordes hangs on a rocky promontory. It has been listed as “one of the most beautiful villages in France”, and hosts as well many artists retreats. Down from the village you can discover the “Bories”, little stone made round huts, where shepherds once settled. A few kilometers away, hidden in a green valley, appears the cistercian Abbey of Sénanque. Monks still live there producing honey, liqueurs and lavender essence from the colorful fields just above.
